In Work Package 8, researchers from the Herman Deleeck Centre for Social Policy, ISER and Athens University of Economics and Business will contribute to a better understanding of the role of services in the distributional outcomes of European welfare states. The focus of the analysis will be on the impact of childcare services and housing.
More in particular, by extending the European microsimulation model EUROMOD, the potential impact of childcare services on poverty and inequality, as well as their effectiveness in fostering employment, especially among women, will be analysed. Furthermore, the work package aims to identify policy designs which are not, or least, biased against the lower incomes.
The study will be focused on the following seven EU member states: Belgium, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The final results of this study will be available in February 2015.
