The Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) was established in 1920 and is the oldest higher education institution in the fields of Economics and Business Administration in Greece. The researchers involved in the project are from the Department of International and European Economic Studies that was established in 1990 and specialises, among other topics, in issues of European integration, European economic policies using multidisciplinary approaches.
Tasks assigned:
The AUEB will lead on work packages 3 and 15.
Previous experience:
AUEB has participated in a large number of FP projects, in many of them as coordinator. The researchers involved in the project participated in several projects funded by the EC dealing with aspects of social cohesion, microsimulation and labour markets (such as AIM-AP, 2006-2009; SIMGLOBE, 2005-2006; EDWIN, 2002-2005; MICRESA, 2001-2005; EXSPRO, 1999-2001; PURE, 1999-2001; Family structure, labour market participation and the dynamics of social exclusion, 1997-2000; EUROMOD, 1996-1999) as well as projects funded by international organisations (OECD, World Bank, ILO).

Assistant Professor of Social Policy and Labour Markets. Holds a M.Sc. (Health Economics) from the University of York and a Ph.D. from the University of Bristol. His research interests include the economic analysis of public policy, the political economy of welfare reform and the microeconomics of social policy. He is active in the EUROMOD network, a participant in the “EUROMOD update (EMup)” research project, a member of the Social Situation Observatory Income Distribution and Living Conditions, and a lifetime member the Basic Income Earth Network.

Professor of European Economic Policies and Research Fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA, Bonn). Holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick. His research focuses on questions of inequality, poverty, social exclusion, the redistributive role of the welfare state, unemployment and returns to education. He is the author of a large number of articles and contributions to collective volumes and a member of the editorial boards of the Review of Income and Wealth and the Journal of Economic Inequality.

Holds a M.Sc. (Economics and Social Policy Analysis) from the University of York and is currently finishing a Ph.D. in public economics. Her research focuses on the redistributive effects of tax-benefit policies, tax evasion and pension policy. She is a member of the Greek national team involved in the EUROMOD update projects.
