A hospital is not the most cosy place for children to be in. Visual artist Ludivine Lechat and computer linguist Tom De Smedt developed Story Table, which aims to create interactive fairytales for hospitalized children to reduce stress and loneliness.

There is a growing body of evidence that the patient’s environment plays an important role in recovery, so Story Table develops games that offer distraction and make hospital visits more enjoyable for children. They use an interactive wall projection, an interactive table and Artificial Intelligence story generation techniques. Story Table creates virtual digital comfort zones, integrating nature with evidence based, pleasant and soothing illustrations that stimulate creativity.
